I was sketching some day and drawed a angular man head. I copyed the sketch larger on canvas and thinked the colouring. I admired some works that are black and white with one colourfull detail. I wondered what would be the best detail and after few poor ideas I decided to paint colourful eyes. The painting is so peaceful, statue like and lifeless that I decided to add a contradiction that makes the watcher think twice what he or she sees. Burning gaze in the eyes of peacefull character reflects the inner turmoil. I painted the skin with different tones of grey and eyes with bright lemon yellow. The background is wery dark purple. I finished the painting with lihgter puple outlinens for the character. It's like a halo that underlines the inner fire in the characters mind.

Luonnostelin yhtenä päivänä ja paperille syntyi kulmikas miehen pää. Kopion luonnoksen suurempana kankaalle ja mietin väritystä. Olen muutamaan kertaan ihaillut töitä, jotka ovat muuten mustavalkoisia mutta taiteilija on halunnut ohjata katseen yhteen värikkääseen kohtaan. Mietin mitä kohtaa haluan korostaa ja muutaman vähän kehnomman tuntuisen idean jälkeen päätin maalata värilliset silmät. Työ on muuten niin rauhallinen, patsasmainen ja eloton, että päätin lisätä ristiriidan, joka saa katsojan tuumailemaan hetken omaa kantaansa. Rauhallisen hahmon katseessa palava tuli kuvaa sisäistä paloa ja kuohuntaa. Maalasin hahmon ihon harmaan eri sävyillä. Silmistä tein keltaiset ja taustan maalasin hyvin tummalla liilalla. Hahmon ääriviivojen ympärille tein hieman vaaleammasta liilasta korostuksen, jonkinlaisen sädekehän korostamaan sisäisen palon hehkua.
